Creative Arts Showcase
At Bangalow Public School, we provide our students with opportunities to excel in the creative arts through a variety of programs, including school musicals, visual art showcases, dance groups, musical ensembles and filmmaking groups.
Film by the Northern Rivers
The annual Film By Northern Rivers festival is a vibrant celebration of creativity and storytelling, shining a spotlight on the remarkable talent of students from schools across the Northern Rivers region. This year, Bangalow Public School entered one short film into the festival and the theme is 'Change'.
Our students collaborated as they brainstormed their concept, created storyboards, wrote a script, directed, filmed and edited their short film.
Here is a synopsis of our short film ‘Not Like the Others’ .
Not Like The Others is a short film about a young girl called Jackie, who has never felt comfortable doing dance. After experiencing firsthand discrimination that she can’t do sport because she is a girl, Jackie comes out of her shell and tells her parents that she wants to do rugby. But when she joins the community rugby team she is rushed to the side, put on the bench and not treated like a teammate. Jackie thinks about quitting but rugby is her passion, so she doesn't give up. In the grand final game, it all turns around because the captain is injured so Jackie gets her chance in the spotlight.
This story is a sign of perseverance and resilience, believing in yourself no matter what. We could all be a bit like Jackie in our lives. With Not Like The Others, we took real life scenarios and problems, and applied them into a short film to defy stereotypes.

'Wonka': the School Production 2024
The whole school worked hard to bring to life the musical 'Wonka', creatively devised by our Stage 3 students.
Each class showcased their dancing talents in this spectacular performance. The cast of characters dedicated themselves to rehearsals all term, perfecting every scene.
Students composed, choreographed and rehearsed their performance during their performing arts lessons with Miss Jenevieve.
A special thank you to Miss Jenevieve who created and oversaw every aspect of the musical.
