Discovery Clubs 2026

During Semester 1, Bangalow Public School trialled a Discovery Club initiative on Friday afternoons.

The Discovery Clubs aim to provide explorative and immersive experiences for students in fields of learning, skills and knowledge beyond the curriculum. This initiative aligns to the High Potential and Gifted Education policy by providing opportunities for all students across the four domains of academic, creative, social-emotional and physical.

In Years 3-6, the initiative aims to provide students with voice and choice. Students attended the same club for Terms 1 and 2 and the skills and knowledge gained are applied to project which was shared and showcased with the community during Education Week.

The Journalism Discovery Club created documentaries about all the Discovery Club, which have been collated into an online presentation.

Students were offered a variety of clubs to choose from and submitted three preferences. These club choices included: Japanese, Journalism, Eco-Investigators, Art Exploration & Making, STEM, Movement Innovation Lab, Adventure & Challenge Thinking, Public Speaking and Dance Choreography. Students received one of their preferences.

In Kindergarten, students stayed with their class and engage in immersive and discovery based learning in outdoor education and the creative arts.

In Stage 1, students stayed with their class and engage in three-week Discovery Club cycles to broaden their experiences and skills in different domains. These clubs include, Making & Weaving, Art, Singing/Choir & Physical Challenges.
